Meridians: feminism, race, and transnationalism was founded at Smith College at the turn of the 21st century, and over the course of the past two decades, has become a leader in intersectional scholarship, creative writing, activism, and arts. The Meridians project mission will be showcased in this conversation moderated by Class of 1990 alumna and Meridians Editor, Ginetta E.B. Candelario, among the 2023 Paula J. Giddings Best Article Award and Elizabeth Alexander Creative Writing Award Winning Scholars, Poets, and Writers whose work has been and will be published in Meridians. From a graduating Smithie to a well-published poet, from a high-profile scholar to an early-career faculty member, they exemplify the power and uniqueness of the Meridians Project's mission to center, foster, and disseminate feminist women of color knowledge production in all its forms.
